  17. <p>     Soap operas are silly, indulgent and exasperating. With
  18. all that to offer, what more could a movie reveal about the
  19. making of one? You'll find out this month in Soapdish, a comedic
  20. romp centering on the off-screen escapades of the actors and
  21. staff of a daytime drama. The cast includes ROBERT DOWNEY JR.,
  22. SALLY FIELD, KEVIN KLINE, ELISABETH SHUE and WHOOPI GOLDBERG.
  23. Off-screen, it seems, is saucier than on. Field, who stars as
  24. a soap diva, says, "We all have a past history with each other
  25. and are trying to knife each other in the back. Life keeps
  26. topping the soap."
